Do you Like Candles?

Who does't right?  I am really picky with mine. Obviously I am a great fan of Yankee and used to buy Partylite quite a lot. These need no introductions from me.

The shop I wanted to tell you all about is One Shop Pamper Shop. I came across Maryann on good old twitter and we chat often.  I tried a few of her lovely lovely candles when my previous seller decided to close.  She made me some fabulous square votives to fill my square votives I bought from PL and then they stopped making candles for (great, huh?) These were in beautiful Wedding Day scent and Pink Watermelon, which is very close to a certain brands honeydew. If you like that one, you will know what I mean.  But unlike other candles places, she made them in exactly the colour I wanted too.

Nothing seems to be too much trouble and Maryann is going to get a special fragrance in for me for a special gift.  I have had several orders now and am always delighted.  Here is my latest delivery plus one of those square votives, before I have broken into the lovely packaging for you to see.

Yummy Sunday

Short and sweet post today. Sorry if you are on a diet.

This weekend we saw both Mothers Day and a family birthday. So obviously food of the sweet variety was required. We saw off a burger and chip feast before these. Good old strawberry trifle and a butterscotch and fudge sponge cake. So full now I cannot possible eat again for oh at least an hour.

Today Miss Mango my beloved kitty turns 1 year old!  By lovely co-incidence, my son also turns 14 on the same day.  There shall be cake and kitty treats

Happy Fathers Day

To my Dad, my husband and all fathers everywhere.  My gift for the person you cannot but gifts for!  They are impossible aren`t they?  One jar of homemade rhubarb and vanilla jam and these goodies!  Red Velvet with vanilla buttercream, topped off with fresh strawberries.  Glad he shared them out!

Remember that song?  the next line is `I might wee`.  Well that's me.  We have been being very careful with money as OH had an employment blip.  Now some purse strings have been loosened and I have just  ordered my last years birthday and Christmas present.  This is she.  I think I am going to name her Martha.  I don't know why, but its a nice name and it was the first one that popped in my head, so Martha it is.

Now, despite the fact that I blog regularly about sewing projects, this is actually my first sewing machine.  The singer I used is really Mums, and was purchased easily 20 years ago and was for different purposes to mine.  To my knowledge she has never had a service and has always been a bit of an awkward customer.  I googled her once to find out how much it would cost to get her serviced and the first result said,  and I quote, "help me before I kill it with an axe!!!!".  There was more, but that basically summed up how I felt about the old girl. I have plodded on with crappy irregular tension, a power lead that falls out just when you least expect it and a light that flickered so much I disconnected it. I shall ask Mum if she wants her back, but I have a feeling that even if Mum says yes, Dad will give a resounding NO!

So, I am looking forward to her arrival and am going to sort the garden out tomorrow before she gets here or it will never get done.  Not sure OH has quite realised what he has let himself in for.  There will be shabby, late dinners and evenings where I cannot be extricated from the sewing room.  It will make up for the endless evenings of football I happily (well ish) participate in.  I shall keep you posted, if you are at all bothered.

More Pink in the Dining Room

As threatened promised, here is a flavour of the dining room decorations.  I made this little lady at the weekend from a Tilda pattern. I am a huge huge fan of Tilda.

 

Where on the earth did those embarrassing cobwebs come from. I did not see those until I viewed the photos. Guess I need to find the old feather duster.

We have a pink and pale green flavour in here. The dining room was not meant to be pink but it just happened with my unforeseen vintage cup collection coming into play. Think you have to agree they look lovely with the sideboard. Spot the new one. Its not really vintage but it fits in so who cares, if you like it, have it I say. Within reason of course, I am always tight frugal with these things.

These pink fabric hearts and table runner were made several years ago but I never throw much out, often comes in handy.

Think I am allowed a glass of Baileys now whilst I wrap the last of the pressies.

Christmas has arrived at Perfect Little World, at last

I put up the lounge tree a couple of weeks ago and took photos, but never seemed to have time to upload them or write this post. Its kinda dark but gives a flavour.

The mantlepiece had some attention too. I had a hideous garland in the garage with horrible shiny burgundy fruit. I pulled off the fruit and some other garish embellishments I did not like then added the nice apples( think there is another in the loft for that gap when I put the boxes back) and some cinnamon sticks and a couple of mini flower pots. I do like a bit of thrifty crafting. The festive duck was purchased last year and is destined to become a favourite.

Our tree skirt we always use is very similar to the advent calender from the last post in style and took me absolutely hours to sew and stitch sequins onto but I declared it to be too bright and `just not right` for this years ensemble so it was replaced with this one which only took me a touch over an hour. I think they might just have to be recreated for the shop next year. Wish I had thought of it earlier, doh!  I will always keep the old one as it has very happy memories. Who knows, I may go bright again one day.

These tealight houses are somewhat heirlooms, I have had them years. It just wouldn`t be Christmas without them on the kitchen windowsill. Sorry about the marigolds! OOPs

Even the loo did not escape, meet frosty and friend.

 

 Off to take pictures now of the dining room tree for the next post to bore you with. It will be nice for me to look back on when I am old so you will just have to put up with it.

Teacosies!!! and a Special gift

This weekend I gave my wrists a little rest from knitting and made these teacosies. They have a festive feel but not so in your face Christmas that you could not keep them out beyond the new year.  I have spread them out a bit. 2 are in the etsy shop and one in the Folksy shop but I think I have enough fabric for one more so that will go on folksy too.  Click on the pictures to take you to individual listings.

Also, I wanted to share this pretty christmas cookie decoration made for me by my friends daughter. She is in primary school so this is an impressive piece of work. I was so touched to have this made especially for me. Thankyou H, you know who you are.

Theres a hint of Christmas in the Air- and my Folksy Shop

Christmas does seem to have snuck up on me a touch this year. Thankfully, I had some items set away to list. Have listed some stockings complete with jingle bells and lovely ribbons, and Christmas Card packs on Folksy  this weekend. I can put them in the etsy shop if anyone really wants me too but its easier to keep things simple at this busy time of the year.

 Once I get time. I am planning some festive versions of my Teacosies. I have all the supplies and all the ideas, just need to magic up some time. let me know if you fancy one of these.
